Dr. Rodríguez Pascual obtained his PhD in Biochemistry from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 1997, followed by postdoctoral stays in Mainz (Germany) and Madrid (Centro de Investigaciones Biológicas, CIB). Since 2003, he has developed his own research projects, first in the CIB and then in the Centro de Biología Molecular Severo Ochoa, where he has established a research line on the biology of extracellular matrix remodeling enzymes and their contribution to the development of cardiovascular and fibrotic diseases. He has authored more than 60 articles in journals such as the Journal of Biological Chemistry, Cardiovascular Research, Scientific Reports, BBA and many others; and led numerous competitive research grants from public programs and in collaboration with pharma industry. He has contributed to the training of graduate and postgraduate students, supervising numerous doctoral theses and degree/master projects. His group belongs to several research networks including Red de Investigación en Fibrosis, Red CSIC de Enfermedades Raras, Conexión CSIC Nanomedicina and others.
