The Role
We are seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our research team in the Antimicrobial Resistance Unit (ARU) in Madrid. This position provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR), leveraging expertise in genomic and metagenomic analysis, phage biology, and bioinformatics in the context of One Health.

You will work alongside experts dedicated to advancing One Health principles and tackling global challenges in public health and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
• Analyze high-throughput sequencing (Illumina and Nanopore) to identify pathogens and analyze resistomes, palsmidomes and microbes in metagenomes.
• Investigate bacterial resistance mechanisms to phages and characterize therapeutic phages using advanced genomics.
• Collaborate in preparing publications and presenting research findings at international conferences.
• Participate in the activities from ARU including international collaborations world-wide.

Perfil buscado

You will hold a PhD in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related discipline and bring proven expertise in bioinformatics, molecular microbiology and AMR research. Your technical skills should include advanced bioinformatics analysis and resistome/microbiome/metagenome characterization.
Experience in international collaborations, a commitment to mentorship, and additional language skills will be advantageous. You should be driven by a passion for solving complex scientific problems and eager to make a meaningful impact.
