Within the framework of BICEPTS (Beyond neuroinflammation: new Concepts to Elucidate the Peripheral Immune System’s Vital Role in Parkinson’s Disease), my group at the University of Athens has received funding for a PhD position on the development of explainable ΑΙ models for the analysis of metabolomics data for discovering biomarkers and uncovering knowledge about the mechanisms of disease in its early stages. The selected PhD candidate will do his/her dissertation research in Athens and be an active member of a dynamic European network that has rich educational and other activities. In addition, they will collaborate with researchers from different disciplines and have the opportunity to visit BICEPTS institutions for secondments around the common goal. A detailed description of the PhD position that is open at the University of Athens (code DC15) is available on the website:

I want to point out that the candidate who will be selected must meet the «MSC Action mobility rule», that is, not reside or have a primary occupation (work, studies) in Greece for more than 12 months in the last 3 years. Due to this restriction, this opportunity is ideal for young scientists who meet the qualifications (Greek or other nationals), currently live abroad and wish to return or spend a period of time in Greece, studying in one of the best Departments in the country. Furthermore, the EU-funded salary is very competitive by Greek standards.
