Descripción de la oferta
The Solute Carrier family 26 (SLC26) includes functionally versatile anion transporters that are of pathophysiological relevance in the gastro-intestinal tract, kidney and lung. SLC26A11 stands out among the ten functional homologs present in humans because of the pH dependency of its chloride/sulfate exchange and the presence of a unique glutamate residue in the anion binding site, suggesting a novel proton-coupled transport mechanism.
Expected Results:
– Investigation of the molecular mechanism of proton transfer in SLC26A11
– Performing molecular dynamics simulations, both classical and quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics
– Employing enhanced sampling methods like metadynamics
– Analysis and interpretation of the results and design of further simulations
– Exchange with internal as well as external project partners, both national and international
– Preparing scientific publications and project reports and presentation at conferences
Perfil buscado
– University degree (Master) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Physics or related fields
– Experience with UNIX-like operating systems
– Ideal prior knowledge on MD simulations and QM/MM
– Excellent knowledge of written and oral English: TOEFL or equivalent evidence of English-speaking skills
– Interactive person with good communication and organizational skills for exchange with colleagues and cooperation partners
Used to work in international and interdisciplinary teams
