Descripción de la oferta

How does mitochondrial stress in the nervous system influence ageing throughout the organism?
Dr. Jesús Fernández-Abascal, based at the Andalusian Centre for Developmental Biology (CABD), Universidad Pablo de Olavide, Seville, Spain, invites expressions of interest from candidates wishing to prepare a joint application to the Juan de la Cierva 2026 programme.

Our research uses Caenorhabditis elegans to investigate how neurons and glia communicate mitochondrial stress across tissues, and how this communication shapes protein homeostasis, ageing and vulnerability to neurodegeneration.

Eligibility
Open to applicants of any nationality with a PhD awarded—or expected to be awarded—between 1 January 2024 and 31 December 2026, subject to the exceptions specified in the call. Applicants must meet the mobility requirement, generally joining a research centre different from where they completed their doctoral training. We seek candidates with a strong scientific record and clear contributions to their research.

What the fellowship offers
A three-year, full-time postdoctoral contract, with a minimum gross annual salary of €31,200, plus an additional €15,000 in total for research and mobility expenses. We will support the selected candidate in preparing the application and developing their research project. Appointment is conditional on the fellowship being awarded.

What we offer
Support in developing a competitive fellowship application and a research direction aligned with the candidate’s strengths and interests.
Appointment is conditional on the fellowship being awarded.
