Cape Town (South Africa)
The Congress will be co-hosted by three prestigious bioscience and biotechnology organisations:
- International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB)
- South African Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SASBMB)
- Federation of African Societies of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (FASBMB)
The decision to host the Congress on the African continent, for the first time, marks an important milestone in the history of the IUBMB which was founded in Brussels in 1955. This provides a unique opportunity for many of us to discover South Africa, a country with a rich history.
Cape Town is an ideal location for this event because the infra-structure of the city is sophisticated. The Cape Town International Convention Centre is an ideal venue, which is conveniently situated near the CBD and the famous Waterfront, offering many hotels and tourist attractions. It is located only a short drive from Cape Town International Airport. In addition, South Africans are warm and hospitable, and the country boasts a vibrant, multi-faceted nation where many cultures and languages co-exist in tolerance and acceptance.
The Local Organising Committee has worked arduously to ensure quality conditions for rigorous scientific exchanges and social engagements.
