Mesoporous nanoparticles are promising candidates to engineer translatable nanomedicines. Because of their surface chemistry, they can be easily modified to show on-demand drug release upon application of relevant stimuli. In addition, they can be selectively targeted to the diseased area, thus improving the efficacy of current treatments.
